Readings: Isaiah 55:10-13, Romans 8:12-27, Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23
I am sort of indecisive. My husband will tell you that’s a gross understatement. Imagine my relief when I read Romans 8 and see that the Spirit prays and intercedes for us in accordance with God’s will. “…the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.” Woohoo! When I am weak and can’t decide what’s best, the Spirit already knows God’s will and intercedes for the best for me. We have all had times so hard that words won’t come, and the Spirit groans in us, with us and for us. Earlier in Romans 8 Paul said, “For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship.” Fear can feed my indecisiveness, and it’s a good reminder that we are not slaves to fear, because we are children of God. Good thing my husband is a child of God so he forgives me for my lack of decision-making skill. Kevin can be quite decisive - God put together a good team with different skill sets and different gifts of the Spirit. Blessings to you as you use your gifts of the Spirit with your team, in His will and for His glory.
