Readings: Exodus 12:21-28, 1 Corinthians 10:14-17, Luke 22:14-20
I felt good about my morning - I did my usual yoga, then I went on the treadmill and prayed hard for my family while briskly walking. I played with Naughty Cat, brushed her hair and left new toys out so she’d have some fun while I was gone. Straightened the kitchen and bathroom, and I was ready for work. Yea for me! Then I got to the office. Somebody left a box of fresh donuts. Oh joy! Some days I have will power, some days I’ll eat anything chocolate; I made a half-hearted attempt at self-control and ate half a chocolate donut. Negated my workout, just like that. It’s so easy to mess up a healthy diet. Pastor Jeremy will talk about communion this Sunday on Shea. Taking communion is an important part of our spiritually healthy diet. Jesus told His disciples, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.” Jesus was eager to introduce the new covenant in His blood. This was a life-changing, freedom-giving, forgiveness-offering Passover meal with the Passover Lamb of God. No matter what we do to feel good about ourselves, to be healthy and eat healthy, we are going to make negative choices like donuts on occasion. And praise His Name, the Lord again invites us to communion, His Holy Supper, and says to us, “I have eagerly desired this diet for you. This is My body given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” Then we remember, communion is about Life and life is about communion with our Lord and with each other. “The body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ strengthen and preserve you in body and soul to life everlasting.” Amen!
