Weekly Devotion - December 30

Readings: Psalm 90:1-6, 12-17, Philippians 3:10-14, Luke 2:21

Here we are at the start of another new year. What are you hoping for? Praying for? In the reading from Psalm 90, we hear, “Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Prioritizing our time, numbering “our days aright,” is a big goal for many of us. I like to think I’ll have more time when I’m retired, but most all the retired people I know say they are busier now than when they worked full time! That points us back to living in alignment with God’s priorities for our lives, in every season of life. By recent experience, I can share that if the Lord gives you an assignment and you think There isn’t possibly time to get that done with everything else I have to do; surely God meant I could do it later, you are most likely wrong. You might be up really late several nights in a row finishing your assignment. That sort of lesson helps us gain the heart of wisdom He wants for us. Let’s pray: Dear Lord, teach us this year, help us gain hearts of wisdom, encourage us to prioritize each day for Your glory. We join with millions of others who’ve prayed Psalm 90:17 - “May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us - yes, establish the work of our hands.” In Jesus’ holy name, amen. New Year blessings to you, Tracy
