Freedom and Confidence
“I don’t think I can do this. I don’t feel like I’m strong enough to handle this right now. I wonder if God will forgive me this time.” Have you heard or thought these words before? What about turning it to this: “I can do this! I am strong enough to handle this with God’s help and power. I am loved and forgiven in Christ!” We see in Ephesians 3:12, “In him [Jesus] and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.” It’s a great blessing to be able to approach the Lord with freedom and confidence, isn’t it? The power and truth of the Word of God can change our attitudes and change our days. Sometimes I don’t even feel confident approaching Naughty Cat! I don’t know her disposition at the moment: will she accept my love or be aloof? Purr or swat at me? We can have no reservations like that about approaching the Lord. He will always accept our love, and always love us first. He’s not going to swat at us, be aloof or hold a grudge. At two services on Shea we will sing this on Sunday, from “In Christ Alone”: In Christ alone my hope is found, He is my light, my strength, my song…No guilt in life, no fear in death. This is the power of Christ in me…” Freedom and confidence in Christ alone - amen!
