Praise, praise, praise
Readings: Jeremiah 11:18-20, James 3:13-4:10, Mark 9:30-37
We’ve had many wonderful, hurting people to pray for lately, and there’s so much in our world that needs to be handled with intense prayer. Sometimes I find myself coming to the Lord with mostly “please, oh please, oh please” prayers, and He reminded me this week to offer “praise, praise, praise” prayers before “please, please, please” prayers. Urgent prayers are always welcome, but I shouldn’t get into a habit of neglecting to praise the One Who listens to every prayer and catches every tear. Our hearts should be grounded in praise and gratitude to the One who sits there on the throne of our hearts. Did you know there’s some version of “praise the Lord” in the Bible 185 times? James 3 tells us, “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you.” If you saw the War Room movie, you will remember the powerful scene where Elizabeth recites that verse from James over and over with increasing confidence. Praise Him for His active, powerful, life-changing Word. God bless your praise time, please time, study time, work time, rest time and every time in between!
