Readings: Genesis 9:8-17, Ephesians 3:14-21, Mark 6:45-56
Lily Tomlin said, “Why is it that when we talk to God, we’re praying, but when God talks to us, we’re schizophrenic?” Schizophrenia aside, we all hear God in the manner He chooses for each of us. Most often, we hear God speak through His Word, and on the “inside” through the Holy Spirit. Paul speaks of the Spirit within us in Ephesians 3:16, “I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being…” and verse 20 “…according to his power that is at work within us…” His Spirit is at work within us. What a glorious opportunity that gives us to work with God! We want to be rooted in God’s love, so we are prepared, secure, obedient and effective partners in that work. Paul wrote a beautiful prayer in Eph. 3:14-21, so let’s pray it for each other this week.
Here’s a start: Lord, we want to know You more, be strengthened by Your power, and be rooted in Your love that surpasses knowledge. To God be the glory, for ever and ever! Amen!
