Steve Richie-Interim Principal
Hi! My name is Stephen Richie and I am the Interim Principal. I have experience in both education and administration. I taught art and Pre-Algebra at Bridgemont High School and Junior High in San Francisco from 1999-2005, and was Dean of Students at Alpha Beacon Christian School for two years before moving to Scottsdale in June 2007. As Dean, I had a variety of responsibilities including admissions, discipline, development, and instruction. I grew up in the Midwest and graduated from Drake University. My master’s degree is in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University.
I am very excited to be Interim Principal for grades 1-8 at Shepherd of the Desert Lutheran School. I absolutely love kids and am passionate about Christian education. As Principal, I aim to uphold educational excellence, maintain a safe environment, support the faculty (Proverbs 27:17), and foster confidence and integrity in your children.
I will be working closely to maintain day to day operations and work on strategic planning for the school, along with Pastor Bjorgaard, the School Board, and the faculty.
This is a great time to be a part of our community. With God as our guide, we can see real change in young people’s lives (2 Corinthians 5:17). Character education will be foundational (Luke 6:40) along with the Salvation message (John 3:16). My favorite Bible verse is John 10:10, “For I have come to give life to the fullest.” I love Shepherd of the Desert Lutheran School because the atmosphere is so positive and upbeat. Our facilities are excellent and there is a real attitude of teamwork between the teachers and parent volunteers.
