Seventh Grade - Matt Fischer

Matt Fischer graduated from Concordia University in Irvine, CA in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Exercise/Sports Science.  In 2005, he received his Masters degree in Education with an emphasis in Curriculum/ Classroom Management.  Matt is going on his sixth year of teaching: four years as a fifth grade teacher at St. John’s in Orange, CA and in his second year as a seventh grade teacher here at Shepherd of the Desert.  His favorite hobbies are running, camping, fishing, hiking, and golf.  Matt’s favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 3:5-6: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths.

7th Grade covers Christian character in Bible Study.  Pre-Algebra and Geometry concepts are covered in Math.  In Language Arts, students learn how to produce structured essays.  The Medieval Period is covered in History.  Our Science curriculum focuses on Biology with plants, animals, and the human body.  In Literature, selected novels, short stories, and poetry are read and discussed.  I love being a part of Shepherd of the Desert because of the family feel that I get working with colleagues and parents.
