Sixth Grade - Shari Greene
Welcome to sixth grade! My name is Shari Greene and it is my honor and privilege to teach your children. I have a Masters in Education and Special Education from Old Dominion University and have taught middle school students for nine years. My husband and I moved to Arizona from Virginia when he retired from the Army. We have four children ranging in age 13 through 25. My hobbies are reading and gardening although I’m not very successful with Arizona gardening. One of my favorite books to read is the Bible which is filled with drama, excitement, mystery, passion, and of course, sin. When I read the Bible, I am always drawn to my favorite passage, Psalm 23 which provides me with spiritual and emotional peace.
When students come to sixth grade, they will:
- learn about key concepts of faith in the Bible
- continue developing strong foundational skills in mathematics
- practice various writing styles, develop strong writing skills using the writing process, and strengthen our spelling skills
- read a variety of literary genres, focusing on the elements of literature, reading comprehension, and vocabulary
- explore the ancient world through the History Alive! curriculum
- investigate our earth, studying our waters, weather, climate, and skies
- develop an appreciation for computers, music, art, physical fitness, and Spanish by hands-on instruction and practice

I love Shepherd of the Desert Lutheran School because I can develop an individual relationship with each student and family. This is an important aspect when nurturing a student’s faith in God and developing strong academic skills. |
